English Department Philosophy
The English department believes the multifaceted study of English, which includes literature, speech, and composition, comprises the cornerstone of our students’ overall education. We believe these skills greatly impact the future success of our students regardless of what their ultimate career choices may be. While recognizing that students learn at different levels and rates, the department affirms its responsibility to incorporate all elements of English study into every student’s individual course work.
“This above all: to thine own self be true,
And it must follow, as the night the day,
Thou canst not be false to any man.”
– William Shakespeare
