Congratulations to the Boys Soccer team on their come from behind win over Crown Point on Monday to become Regional champs for the 3rd time in program history, all under Coach Viratham Mounsithiraj. THe boys fell behind 2-0 in the first 12 minutes, but took control from that point forward to win 4-2. THe boys play #1 ranked Lafayette Harrison on Saturday at 5 PM at Kokomo HS.

Returning all-sport Ticket holders are reminded to return your order forms to the GHS athletic department. Returning all sport and/or season ticket holders who have not mailed back their ticket order and included a self-addressed stamped envelope can pick up their tickets on Tuesday, August 1st from 4 – 7 PM at the GHS athletic office. This is also the time and date for those ticket holders to change seats it they want. Starting Aug. 2nd, season and all-sport tickets can be purchased during regular office hours, 7:30 AM – 4 PM.

The start time for the varsity baseball DH between Goshen HS and West Noble HS on Saturday, 4/1, has been moved. The start time is being moved from 11 AM to 1 PM to give the field more drying time. Please visit athletics.goshenschools.org for parking updates and pedestrian traffic updates due the construction around Phend Field.
The V/JV baseball games between Goshen HS and Elkhart Central HS have been postponed due to rain and wet fields. The games will be made up on 5/11/17.
The Hobart SuperDual wrestling tournament scheduled for 12/17/16 has been canceled due to the impending storm in that area. Goshen HS was to compete in that event.
The girls JV basketball game on Tuesday, 11/15 between Goshen and Mishawaka Marian will be a 6:15 PM JV start time, not 6 PM as originally listed on Goshen schedules.

The boys varsity soccer match between Blackhawk Christian of Ft. Wayne and Goshen High School has been canceled for this evening due to flooding at the field in FW. No date to reschedule has been determined.

GHS Fall Sports information:
Girls’ golf practice begins on Friday, July 29. All interested should report to Maplecrest CC for 9 AM practice and to Black Squirrel at 3 PM. This afternoon will be followed by a Girls Golf parent player meeting at 5:30 PM. All team members and a parent are expected to attend.
All other fall sports begin on Monday, 8/1. All students need to have completed and submitted to the athletic department a physical exam dated after or on April 1, 2016, the emergency contact information card, the concussion information acknowledgement form, and have signed the GHS athletic code of conduct before being cleared to participate in practices. The GHS athletic office is open from 7:30 AM – 4 PM. First practice times and meeting locations by sport for Monday, 8/1 are:
- Boys tennis: 8 – 10 AM at the GMS Tennis courts and 5 PM for Give Back Night at Culver’ Restaurant…….8 – 10 AM and 6 – 8 PM practices on Tuesday, 8/2 and Wed, 8/3
- Boys soccer: 8 AM – 10 AM and 6 – 8 PM at the GHS soccer complex
- Girls soccer: 8 AM – 10 AM and 6:30 – 8 PM at the GHS soccer complex
- Boys and Girls Cross country: 4:15 – 6:15 PM by GHS outdoor concessions near track
- Football: 8 AM – 10 AM for lifting, meet at the football locker room by the main gym, 3:55 – 6:30 PM practice
- Volleyball, 4 – 8 PM in Whiteman Gym (30 minute break around 5:45 PM…bring snacks and do not plan to leave the gym area)
- Cheerleaders, 12 PM youth Cheer Camp and 4 – 5:30 PM practice in the GHS Warehouse
**Soccer and football players should bring tennis shoes/running shoes, in addition to their cleats for conditioning or inside practice. Soccer players must have shin guards.**

Seniors golfers Evan Beck and Luke Rush are two of 15 boys around the state to be named academic All-State by the state golf coaches’ association and Senior Matt Truex has been honored as Honorable Mention All State.
Senior Hudson Kay has been named All-American for Diving by the National Interscholastic Swim Coaches Association.

Goshen High School is proud to introduce Michael Wohlford as its’ new head boys’ basketball coach.
Michael is a graduate of Ball State University and Columbus East HS. He has 10 years of HS assistant coaching experience, 2 at Muncie Central and 8 years at Goshen High School. Michael was an all-conference basketball player at Columbus East and was first team academic all-state. His senior year in HS, 2003, Columbus East won their first conference championship since 1979!
Michael and his wife, Catherine Wohlford (Bowen), have 2 children, Lauren and Abby. Michael is a social studies teacher at GHS and Catherine is a biology teacher and an athletic trainer at GHS.
RE: Coach Kulp’s 300th Win
Softball: Head Softball coach Brent Kulp earned his 300th victory as a high school head softball coach tonight as the RedHawks overcame an early 3-1 deficit to Warsaw in a come from behind 6 – 4 win. The girls plated 3 runs in the bottom of the 3rd to take a 4-3 lead which they would never relinquish. Coach Kulp began his coaching career at Jimtown where he accrued a record of 285-133-1 (.680) over 15 years. In the past two seasons at GHS, Kulp’s coaching record is 15-32 for an overall coaching record of 300-165-1.
Coach Kulp is a teacher at Chandler Elementary in Goshen. Congratulations to Coach Kulp and much thanks to all of his support, especially his wife, Corie, and son, Connor.
The Goshen HS baseball Doubleheader vs. New Prairie HS scheduled for Saturday, 4/9/16 has been postponed and changed to a single game on Thursday, 4/14/16. The varsity game will be held at Goshen at 5:30 PM eastern and the JV game will be played at New Prairie with a 5:30 PM eastern start time.
In addition, due to rescheduled v/jv games for Tuesday, 4/12 and 4/14, the C games for those dates have been canceled: the 4/12/16 game at home vs. Plymouth and the 4/14/16 game at Wawasee are canceled.
The boys golf tournament at Lafayette for Saturday, 4/9 has been canceled and will not be rescheduled.
The v/jv baseball vs. Jimtown has been moved from Wednesday, 4/13 to Tuesday, 4/12 with same locations and start times. The varsity boys will add Whitko to their schedule for Wednesday, 4/13 at home.
The JV girls softball game on 4/14 vs. Triton will begin after the conclusion of the varsity game. Triton does have lights.

In addition, the V Baseball DH scheduled for this Saturday @ West Noble has been moved up to this Friday, 4/1 in an attempt to play in better weather. The first game will start at 3:45 PM at W Noble.
“All GHS in season sport teams will practice from 4-6 this afternoon at Goshen High School. The exception being that diving will be at GMS at a time agreed upon by coach/student. If you are unable to attend practices, please communicate that with your coach. The track & field parent-player meeting will be in the GHS cafeteria at 6:30 PM today. Even if you are unable to attend practice due to lack of transportation at 4 PM, your parents should be able to get you there for the parent-player meeting. It is expected you will attend practices and the parent-player meeting if you can get there safely.”
All other out of season activities are canceled for this evening, including Intramural soccer, and girls tennis conditioning, girls soccer, boys golf, and baseball workouts. Parents should notify their head coaches if they have questions, as the athletic department is closed.
Honoring the Tradition of the GHS Mascot: On February 20th, prior to the home GHS Boys’ Basketball game vs. LaPorte, Goshen Community Schools will host an open house to honor our proud tradition at the Goshen Redskins. The open house will be held from 4:30 – 6 PM in the GHS cafeteria. The open house will have memorabilia from our many years as the Goshen Redskins, the unveiling of a design for a commemorative display case in the GHS athletic area, the unveiling of a commemorative plaque, and the induction of “the Chief” into the GHS athletic wall of fame.
In advance of this event, a commemorative tee shirt has been designed and is available for purchase via the internet at http://tinyurl.com/zxtvrdv. All proceeds from these shirts will be designated to supplement the costs of the new display case to honor the Redskin mascot. These shirts will only be available until 2/4 so that they can be distributed at the open house on 2/20. After the open house, plans are for the window to re-open for a brief period.
The wrestling match between Goshen HS and Wawasee HS scheduled for this evening has been postponed due to a traffic accident involving the Goshen bus. Initial reports were that no one on the bus incurred injuries.
