Tori DeVries

The Goshen High School senior IMG_2038 has signed a letter of intent for Bethel College to major in Nursing with a minor in Spanish and participate in track.  Tori was a 2 year letter winner in track.

 

Tori DeVries is the daughter of Joel and Chris DeVries of Goshen.  Tori has 3 siblings, Joel, Kaitlyn and Alyssa.

JV and Varsity baseball field change for 5-24

 JV Baseball:   Saturday, May 24th, the JV baseball double header against South  Bend Adams will now be played at Phend Field instead of Rogers Park.  The start time is at 10:00 am.

 

Varsity Baseball:  Saturday, May 24th, the varsity baseball double header against South Bend Washington will now be played at Goshen College instead of Phend Field.  The start time is at 10:00 am.

IHSAA Tennis Sectional

On Wednesday, May 21st at 4:30 pm, Goshen HS will be playing against Bethany Christian HS in the IHSAA Tennis Sectional hosted at Goshen Middle School.  The winner of that match will advance to the 2nd round.  On Thursday May 22nd at 4:30 pm, Fairfield HS will be playing against and Jimtown HS.  NorthWood HS will be playing against the winner of the Goshen and Bethany Christian match.  The championship match will be played Friday, May 23rd at 4:30 PM.

 

All matches will be played at the Goshen Middle School tennis courts located at US 119(Plymouth Ave.) and CR #21.(Indiana Ave.)

Softball Redskin Classic

Softball Redskin Classic:  On Saturday, May 24th. Goshen High School will host the Redskin Classic.  The games start at 9:00 AM.  Goshen will play against Elkhart Christian on diamond 3 at Shanklin Park.  Bethany Christian will play against Westview on diamond 2.  30 minutes after last out of 1st round the winner will play and the non-winners will play.

Tennis Sectional

Tennis Sectional:  The Goshen tennis sectional tournament begins on Wednesday, May 21st at 4:30 pm.  Semi-finals are on Thursday, May 22nd at 4:30 pm.  Finals are on Friday, May 23rd at 4:30 pm.

The teams involved are Bethany Christian, Goshen, Fairfield, Jimtown, and NorthWood.  All matches will be played at the Goshen Middle School tennis courts located at US 119 (Plymouth Ave.) and CR #21.(Indiana Ave.)

Boys Track and Field Sectional

Boys Track and Field Sectional:  On Thursday, May 22nd Goshen High School will host the boys track & field sectional meet.  The field events will begin at 5:30 PM. The 4 x 800 m Relay will begin at 6:00 PM.   Teams involved are Concord, Elkhart Central, Elkhart Christian Academy, Elkhart Memorial, Goshen, Fairfield, Jimtown, Northridge, NorthWood, Warsaw, and Wawasee.

 

The only entrance is the main entrance by the concession stand.  The entrance north of the home bleachers will not be open.  Please park in the west parking lot.   A meet program can be found at ghs.goshenschools.org as of noon on Monday, 5/19.

 

Admission price is $ 6.00 for kindergarten to adult.  Goshen High School All sport tickets and Goshen High School student activity cards will NOT be honored.

C Baseball time change for 5-15

C Baseball time change:  Thursday, May 15th, the c baseball game against Penn has a time change.  The game will be following the JV baseball game.  The start time is 7:30 pm.

V/JV Baseball postponed for 5-14

Deja Felder signs with IU-Kokomo

Deja Felder, a senior at Goshen HS, has signed a national letter of intent to continue 
her education at IU-Kokomo.  Deja is the daughter of Alfreddie Felder and Rebecca Yoder of Goshen.  
She has sister, Shaneka, and one brother, Antonio.  Deja was 2 time all NLC player at 
Goshen and has been an instrumental leader in turning the girls basketball program 
into a consistent winning program.
Deja chose IU-Kokomo due to its’ small campus, their exercise science program, and 
its’ location.  Her and her mom both like that “it is not too far away, but fare enough 
where she will have her independence”.
She has earned an athletic scholarship from IU-Kokomo, an NAIA division II school that started 
their athletic program 3 years ago.  This will be the first year of Women’s Basketball.  
The new coach is Whitney Farris, who has served as Sports Information Director and an assistant 
Men’s basketball coach at the school.  Coach Farris notes, “I am excited about Deja.  
She is a tough, hardworking kid that our new program needs.  She is our 4th recruit to sign”
GHS Coach Lenny Krebs adds, “IU Kokomo is getting a player whose best days are ahead.  
 She will beIMG_2015nefit from the higher level of competiIMG_2013tion and improver her skills.  Deja is a quality person.”

Physical Night

Goshen Community Schools’ athletic physical night is Monday, April 21st!   All student athletes in Goshen Schools entering 7th – 12th grade next year can attend.

The physicals are done by appointment only.  When scheduling the appointment, you must provide full payment and complete the health history on the IHSAA athletic physical form.   Appointments will run from 5:30 – 8 PM.

To schedule an appointment, sign up in the athletic office.  There is a $20 fee, but no students will be denied for financial reasons.    In order to compete on an athletic team during the 2014-2015 school year, a current physical completed after April 1, 2014 must be on file in the GHS or GMS athletic office.  If you have questions, call GHS Athletics at 533-0652 or GMS Athletics at 534-6436

The building that is hosting this event is IU Health Goshen Orthopedics and Sports Medicine.  It is located off of CR 27 at 1824 Dorchester Court.

Golf:  The golf match against Northridge and Fairfield has been rescheduled to Tuesday, April 22nd. The golf match will be played at Timber Ridge and the start time is 4:30 pm.

Golf:  Tonight, April 15th, the golf match against Memorial, Lakeland and West Noble has been postponed to Thursday, April 24th.  The golf match will now be a Maplecrest against Memorial and Lakeland. The start time is 4:30 pm

Girls Track postponed for 4-14

Girls Track:  Tomorrow, April 15th the girls track meet against Plymouth and Wawasee has been postponed to Wednesday, April 16th at Goshen High School.  That start time is 5:00 pm.
